    Time Commitment:

During this experience, expect to become part of the Faith, Science, and Ethics Camp family for life. Mentors engage in deep listening together and intentionally bond while living together during the training and camp period. The goal is to create a group of honest, trustworthy, and curious individuals who are ready to engage with high school-age students who share this curiosity. We play plenty of different games over the period of training and the camp, where we foster safe spaces and laughter. As well as having fun, we philosophize about the world together and ask deep questions we might not ask anywhere else.

  • As part of this camp is the value of Faith, we take part in worship services during the camp period every night together. Each night, a different mentor will give a testimony/sermon as part of their leadership. Mentors work with Gustavus chaplains and other preaching/storytelling experts to create a testimony that fits the individual mentor’s beliefs, as well as a method of providing insights for the fellows. Since Gustavus Adolphus College is a Lutheran, ELCA-affiliated school, we generally practice similar values and principles, while also keeping our doors open to all different expressions of faith. Our goal is to make each individual, including mentors, feel comfortable expressing their faith among their peers and to have space to ask questions about it.
